My lunch with Amalia was a blast, we dined at Nordstroms café, which had surprisingly acceptable food, located in the mall (sic). The Mall of America is chain city paradise, matching what Bo and Amalia claim is restaurant fashion mirrored in downtown Minneapolis. Not many if any ‘mom and pop’ operations, but lots of people, and long lines outside the seemingly safer (chipotle) joints.
The flight to Tokyo was delayed, which gave me a good chance for some final conversations before loosing phone access until I acquire a SIM card in China. I charged the phone, laptop, and phone headset, google chatted with Adam, talked with Dad, and Bo.
The flight was enjoyable, I sat next to Elayna (elaynacarlson2.blogspot.com), who is going to Beijing with Ticketmaster. She let me solve one of her Sudoku puzzles, and had some good chat. She slept against the window, and did not recline her seat, giving me a couple of inches of wall to support my pillow and head. I rested well once the blinds went down.
I just finished off the first bag of home made granola from mom. I have food on the plane that is safe…I ‘ll need to pace myself…
